Every visitor who arrives in Nightopia carries within their soul light. This light is known as Ideya. This light can be separated into five distinct color types. Red is Courage, Yellow (or gold depending on how you look at it) is Hope, Green is for Growth, Blue for Intelligence, and White for Purity. Visitors with at least one Ideya are able to lucid dream and to the Dream Gate where their ideya can manifest doors to that visitor's nightopia. But usually ideya are taken by nightmaren, creations of Wizeman, which can bar them from entering this realm. Most visitors tend to be children, who are full of wonder and haven't been jaded by the real world, which can cause the light of their ideya to dim or even eventually go out. Though this does not mean the ideya is gone. Much like a candle, the ideya remains if its light is gone, and can possibly be relit. People can have any combination of ideya, but only one of each color. Someone may have only the purity and hope ideya but the others are dormant. It is also know that every visitor has a core ideya, the main one they use. Back when the ideya arts were common, visitors would use the ability of their ideya, and this would be their only ability as a visitor can only have a single core ideya. However a visitor's core ideya can change through life, for example; A kid whose core ideya was courage may have intellegence as their core ideya as an adult.
When it comes to ideya being stolen, it is usually due to Wizeman's nightmaren or in the exceedingly rare case, another visitor as only those from the waking world seem to have this ability. It is believed that the only reason nightmaren are able to take ideya is due to their connection to Wizeman. As to what use an ideya would serve, there are many things believed to be possible with them. But sadly after Somnus' sacrifice, those ideya centered arts were lost, only whispered in tales from that day. This page will going into detail about these abilities, gathered from lost records and old rememberances, along with the symbols that represented each ideya in the old age.
There will also be no entertainment to the rumors of "dark ideya" until these rumors have been confirmed. While the idea is possible, there is no evidence of such a thing.
The ideya palace is a structure built to capture entities that pose a threat to whomever owns the structure. These a mostly used by Wizeman to capture rebelling nightmaren or visitors that might get violent with loyal nightmaren. Usually the renigade nightmaren known as "NiGHTS" is seen captured in one these, and usually needs assistance escaping, which brings us to the next topic. The way these structures work is due to a strange energy that makes up the force field that keeps the imprisoned being inside, but this energy gets canceled out when exposed to the energy of an ideya. Usually one ideya is enough to temporarly escape the ideya palace, but this freedom is on a timer as a sort of fail safe. It either takes all the ideya themselves or powerful ideya infused gems to completely undo this force field in a way that allows one to escape permanantly.
There are various versions of these structures, some float in the air, some float on top of the water and others are made for upside down surfaces. Wizeman has been the primary engineer of these, and it believed that the seal keeping Wizeman in the realm of dreams is in a way a large scale ideya palace, but this has not been confirmed as of now.
