NiGHTS is a first level nightmaren who rebelled against Wizeman, and now flies around Nightopia freely. NiGHTS prefers to not talk about when they were loyal to Wizeman as it brings back memories of regrets. Though they have rebelled against Wizeman this does not mean they're 100% good, as they still have the inherit nature of a nightmaren and still make self centered choices. But they can grow to care for others and generally doesn't actively seek to harm others, instead playing pranks on them and bringing them along on their adventures, potentially in danger. Generally if NiGHTS has grown fond of you they'll be like a protective older sibling to you.

Not much is known about NiGHTS before their revolt as not much was known about first level maren after the end of the old age and they were rarely seen, and their single digit numbers doesn't help much in knowing more. But at the age of 287 NiGHTS went renegade and rebelled against Wizeman, leaving the realm of Nightmare and traveling around Nightopia aimlessly before sneaking into the Dream Gate and meeting a younger Owl. While Owl initially told NiGHTS to leave, NiGHTS kept coming back, and due to them not picking a fight with the guardian, Owl did not harm NiGHTS. Whenever NiGHTS isn't roaming around Nightopian they can be found resting at Owl's house. At times NiGHTS would be captured, and if a visitor wasn't around to save them, Owl would use an ideya gem to free them, despite how rare these gems are.

Eventually NiGHTS met Elliot and Claris and helped the two overcome their fears and defeat Wizeman, at the cost of their own life. But NiGHTS and their fellow nightmaren manifested once again within the hearts of other humans, never truly dying, never truly free. Once again they sacrificed themselves to help another two visitors, Helen and Will. A few years later Owl became ill and NiGHTS became a sort of caregiver to him, making sure the old bird is getting rest and staying warm. Though a part of NiGHTS is sad to see that no visitors have come to the Dream Gate in years.
