Nightopian introduction

A common nightopian

Nightopians as their names imply, are the residents of Nightopia. They're creatures manifested from the energy of ideya, each having a personality and a very simple life style. They don't really have a language, culture or even greater desires. These creatures are simply content with living happy lives in the paradise of Nightopia, never fighting, sharing their food and toys and partaking in easy going activities like playing, singing, fishing and eating. Cake in particular being a favorite, as well as bulb fruits, candy and just about anything sweet.

While Nightopians do not have a language, they can say very simple words, albiet incorrectly and in a childish manner, usually incorperating gestures. For example, when a Nightopian had difficulty reaching a moon bulb it point up to the branch the fruit was growing from and kept saying "eeeeeeee" before then point to its mouth whilst making a biting motion. The most complex sound resembling a actual word was a sound resembling the word "star", pronouncing it "Sta!" very loudly.

All types of Nightopian are capable of producing eggs, manifesting out of thin air once two Nightopians fly around each other in a simple dance if the two are happy enough. The eggs don't hatch on their own, usually only opening once a visitor opens them. When one of these creatures grow old, they vanish into the dream core to manifest elsewhere.

Nightopians Proper

Common Nightopian
The most abundant type of Nightopian, these creatures resemble infants with cone shaped heads, pointed ears, insectoid wings and halos atop their heads. These are simple creatures, living simple lives and seek only happiness. This species appeared after the end of the old age and have spread to every corner of the world of dreams. They mainly eat sweets like candy and cake, but also enjoy the abundant bulb fruits of Nightopia. These creatures are startled when sudden or violent actions take place around them, often making them run away. This means that nightopians usually run away from nightmaren, but NiGHTS has shown that through kind actions that nightopians do not fear nightmaren by default.

As stated, these creatures appear from the energy of ideya, manifesting from the ideya of the dreamer. Nightopians can even reflect their dreamers of origin, weather it be through the dreamer's subconsious or through the dreamer's care towards them. If a dreamer goes out of their way to harm a nightopian, then the Nightopia might reflect that with a foreboding aura as the little nightopians run away from their dreamer. With enough abuse they might refuse to appear in Nightopia all together, returning to the core of dreams to manifest elsewhere. But if one cares for their Nightopians, they'll see the dreamer as a parental figure, following them around happily and an aura of joy will linger in the air around them. nightopians can only create eggs with each other if they're happy, so if a dreamer takes care of their little ones they might find their dreams filled with these little guys.
According to old legends, it was a visitor with courage as their core ideya who sealed Wizeman into this realm.

But there is a twist to Nightopian creation. If a Nightopian is scared and is exposed to a 3rd level nightmaren, they will create mepians. Fear must be present in the nightopian since nightmaren are born from fear.

Mepians

Mepians are born when a fearful nightopian and a 3rd level nightmaren meet, creating a creature known as a mepian. Most of the time these creatures are accidently created when a nightmaren is stunned and thrown into a nightopian who is rightfully stunned by the nightmaren being thrown into them. The chances of this occuring are only 1/5, which makes these creatures a rarity for some. But some dreamers who have intentionally created mepians, soon even replacing the entire nightopian population. From the observations of mepian husbandry several things have been documented. For example, a mepian's legacy can be traced back by its appearance. When a nightopian and nightmaren meet, the mepian will have traits of the nightmaren that helped parent it. Shleep mepians will have wool and horns, Hollow mepians will have feathers and beaks, ect. with each generation will change appearance a bit, if breed with a nightopian they'll slowly lose their nightmaren traits, though not completely. mepians who've basically lost all their nightmaren traits are mischievous and have a gremlin-like smirk as they cause chaos.

Mepians tend to have a more chaotic personality, ruffhousing with each other and bullying nightopians, though this isn't always the norm. Some mepians can be kinder, but most of the time they're mean. This mepian behavior obviously stems from their nightmaren heritage, and this leads to other behaviors, such as eating nightopians, though they might go after third level nightmaren if there are no other options and they're hungry enough. But meat isn't exclusively their diet, they too like to partake in bulb fruit and sweets. They might be selfish due to their nightmaren heritage, but the kind mepian is a special sight. One mepian that was called "Lamb" was a Shleep mepian who gave a nightopian a coat made of his own wool, which helped lull othse who wore it to sleep. Sadly Lamb vanished into the dream core like all dream creatures of old age.

Mepian trait's can also come from multiple nightmaren. a gao mepian can have offspring with a cuttle nightmaren and the offsping would be 1/4 nightopian, 1/4 gao and 1/2 cuttle. This would give the mepian traits of all three. Due to this many combos are possible. Some specific combos have special abilities, one of them being the elusive Kingpian.

Kingpians
A unique creature, spawned from a mysterious combination of specific mepians, the kingpian eludes many. For a long time it was thought these creatures didn't exist, until recent documentation. It's thought that these creatures are spawned when a mepian has only the body or head of its parent nightmaren, and even then the chances of a egg appearing are only 1/100. Kingpians look a lot like nightopians, but with royal features such as regal red attire and crown incrested with ideya gems. They're also the most intellegent of the pians, being able to say one basic worded sentences and understand basic commands. They're also the only pians known to fight mepians and nightmarens, protecting nightopians. Though a few documented kingpians have spared the rare king mepian, possibly due to not seeing them as a threat. The kingpian also has the longest lifespan of any pian, lasting twice or even thrice as long as the norm.

Kingpians also engage in more complex projects, often building structures that have been dubbed "Castles" or "Fortresses" due to their appearance. These stuctures usually take a abstract tower-like appearance, typically with a pink-ish hue. These structures don't seem to serve any purpose, though nightopians seem to enjoy being around them. Perhaps nightopians feel safe around these? Or perhaps they like to play on them, as this has been observed. Nightmaren and Mepians, save for the more friendly anomolies, tend to not stay around these. Mostly due to how the Kingpian will stay around them.

Due to how these creature are spawned from a refined mix of nightopian and nightmaren energies, it is speculated that they are the perfect balance of the two. This idea of a balanced nightopia is particularlly interesting due to Nightopia and Nightmare are counterparts to each other, conforming to the idea of Yin and Yang from the waking world. But this theory falls apart upon the stated fact that Nightopia has a dream core where the collective dream energy of every visitor culminates, whereas nightmare doesn't. Not much is known about the dream core other than that Somnus, the guardian of Nightopia, protected the core until their death.
